Mold Remediation
Mold remediation is a process that is used to not only kill mold, but to remove the dead mold spores in a manner that prevents fungi and dust contaminated with the fungi from cross-contaminating other areas outside the work area. It also includes protection the workers from exposure to the spores while assisting in the cleanup process.
To make the mold remediation successful, the affected area needs to be quarantined from the rest of the home or building. This means that there cannot be any people, materials or items and air, traveling from the contaminated area to non-contaminated areas. Even the workers involved must wear disposable protective clothing that is to be carefully removed and properly discarded upon the completion of the mold remediation process.
The heating and air conditioning systems (HVAC) will need to be turned off and drains may even be closed when you are doing mold remediation. Thick sheets of flexible plastic sheeting, duct tape and other fasteners should also be used to seal the area off and act as a partition from the area. The flexible plastic sheeting make a good temporary partition since it can be completely disposed of upon completion.
Mold remediation can be a challenging and frustrating project and if it is not done properly and ultimately become wasted effort. For this reason, you should always seek professional help when confronted with a project like this. The results will well outweigh the expense.
